With your help, Particle has been named a major player by the IDC MarketScape

At Particle, we work hard to build products that our customers love. In the seven months since we raised our Series B, we’ve had the opportunity to invest more deeply in our platform and the services we provide to our customers. As a result, we’ve had some exciting announcements over the last couple of months. Not only have we been able to launch our third generation of hardware, but we also been able to launch our engineering service, Particle Studios, along with an entirely new website and brand.

In short, it’s been a crazy few months. Years, even. And it seems like people are noticing.

We’re excited to announce that the IDC MarketScape has named Particle as a major player in the IoT landscape. In their report, they stated Particle achieved the highest overall ratings from its customer base, and called out our large, vibrant developer community as one of our biggest strengths.

To read this report is exciting and humbling to say the least. We’ve built our business on the principle that every IoT product starts as a prototype, and that building a strong developer community would bring us customers that we can help scale. This was a long play, and we were making a bet against the way others in this space typically do business. It’s rewarding to see our enthusiastic community and our vision for Particle recognized in such a highly regarded industry report, especially amongst some of the biggest companies in the world.

As we move forward, we’re looking forward to seeing what you will connect next using Particle Mesh. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements in the coming months.

More about the study

In total, the IDC MarketScape evaluated 11 other IoT vendors (device and network connectivity providers) as a part of their report. They drew upon detailed surveys, interviews with vendors, publicly available information, and user research to provide an accurate assessment of each vendor. This evaluation is based on a comprehensive set of parameters that are conducive to the vendor’s success in the short and long term.
